Starcraft (1998) – main video game of my life
“Starcraft” is one of those few things that follow me throughout this awkward life. For the first time I happened to play in this relic year, possibly in 2000, at the age of 5 years, or so. And, with all the unreliability of my memory, I can still recall these moments – to rest myself, playing in Starcraft, what I did, and with what thoughts. I remember how the 1st Tereran mission was held from time to time in the Brood War addition, surrounding itself with turrets and siege tanks to a state of complete inaccessibility, crushing about why the enemy has aviation, but I do not have it.
That mission involves a bypass, bypassing the well -guarded cordon of the Dominion, allowing you to strike the rear, but the dialogs, alas, were not transferred, and I did not understand this, instead of that a meter by a meter, clicking on the front line, systematically pulling the artillery, cleansing the territory with the help of tracking stations and, of course, constantly summing up the reinforcements – how many hours I occupied this? It doesn’t matter, because I was passionate about the process, and, despite the rather modest children’s mind, I must say, I coped well-at the 1st mission, of course. I still believe that the development of the cognitive abilities available to me to a large extent owes to his adolescence in Starcraft.
In those days, I did not think such concepts https://onlinepoker247.co.uk/casumo/ as graphics, technical restrictions on time and other. And few people reasoned so, I believe that the games were perceived as they are, and it seemed that other virtual entertainments simply could not be. There was a simple choice in front of me – a bright, funny and more affordable understanding of Warcraft 2, and a gray, serious, photorealistic Starcraft – oh, yes, on analog monitors 640×480 you simply do not notice all these pixels, artifacts and other flaws, thanks to which the game looked incredibly beautiful. And although I loved the 2nd Warcraft, and spent more time in it, but Starcraft, which was more difficult and treated me more cruelly, impressed me much stronger. It’s funny that I was not tired of comparing these games among myself – the answer was so obvious. In fact, Starcraft became my first work in the genre of cosmic fiction, although I did not understand the plot at all. But I had a creative space in order to interpret what I saw in the game and invent my. Well, what could I draw on paper at that age – of course my favorite computer games.
And finally, Starcraft, along with Warcraft 2, these are the games that I first played with living people – at my father’s work, I was then 8 years old, probably. I remember, without realizing it, playing protosss, I tried to adhere to the tactics of the aircraft carriers flotilla, although, like everything that I do in my life, this choice was more likely an aesthetic background, if I really liked these little interceptors from the mother ship and shoot everything they see. The protosss then seemed deeply mysterious and therefore charming race, because I could not make an integral impression about them. However, in the future, I gave my priority when choosing a side exclusively to terraces – probably, because I am boring.
Thoroughly play the Starcraft, go through the game, about to understand its plot, I happened much later, at 16 years old-the game had a high-quality fan dubbing from 7x-team, if I am not mistaken. He is now quite liquid, except that Artanis was forgotten to voice. Then, through the ICCUP service, I first played Battle in Starcraft on Starcraft.Net – just as I first saw the gates revealing to me into the Warcraft 3 network game, the first entry into the Starcraft multiplayer absorbed as tightly into memory. After all, I, too late, has always dreamed about it. But the Starcraft multiplayer, as you might assume, sheltered me for a short while – I will not learn how to play in 10 lives as a middle -sized player does.
And, in general, at the same time, at the age of 16, I discovered Starcraft again-this was no longer a nostalgic memory from my childhood about how I moved soldiers around the perimeter of the monitor, but already a full-fledged video game experience where the visual style, the pace of the game, gameplay, plot and narrative had their significance. Oh, this obscurable plot of the 1st Starcraft-it is good, very good, but how powerless it is, almost like in this Dark Souls. No exposition, only detached remarks on the agenda-the war has just begun, and all the actors of mankind already know who the grains are, who are the protosss, and the Terranian state of the Confederation, its crimes against its own citizens and the fighting of the Sons of the Corshal against it, and leading the sons of the lines in dialogue briefings, are completely reserved for it. About what is happening in societies of protosss themselves and Zergs themselves, you should not even speak-the plot of the 1st “Starcraft” of those that would be good to pass 2-3 times, and only then the picture will begin to fold all the whole.
And, I must say, “Blizard” had previously been able to tell dramatic fantastic stories, using a minimum of funds for this – the very notorious briffings between missions, where both “friends” and sworn enemies are equally sitting, this is an extremely budgetary decision, but how I like it. Literally negotiations between politicians and creators of history before sending people to kill and die for their interests. Strictly, stylish, brutal. As, however, the plot of the game itself is a very non -trivial fantasy, let’s say so.
And what can I say, I love the 1st Starcraft to this day. Continuation is also quite pretty to me, especially Raynor’s campaign from Wings of Liberty, but it turned out to be too far from what the original was. In the sequel there is no that complexity, that concentrated tension, that grotesque and abstractness – that style, finally. And although I am hopelessly bad in the game as in e-sports discipline, but even I like the gameplay of the 1st part more as an example-in it all has weight, value, and even with small forces, with true positioning, you can cause tremendous damage to the enemy, exactly as with an incompetent command to lose everything-Starcraft is a full carrier of the “strategies In real time “, and, at the same time, the title” Video games of my whole life “.
